The Impact of Heat on MS Affected People

Heat or high humidity are rather dangerous for MS affected people and can lead to worsening of their symptoms. That results from nerves which "transfer" electrical signals even less efficiently in the case of heat or high humidity.

Extremely cold temperatures or changes in temperature can also worsen MS symptoms, usually spasticity.

People with Multiple Sclerosis must avoid these extreme temperatures: use air conditioning, try to stay in cool and dry areas as much as possible. It is paramount to understand that while climate may worsen MS symptoms, climate changes do not influence that much on actual nerve damage. All the negative effects of temperature and humidity are commonly temporary.
